Our countryside holiday cottages in Wroxall sit just minutes from Ventnor and within easy reach of some of the island’s most beautiful beaches including Ventnor Beach, Steephill Cove and Shanklin, as well as famous attractions such as Blackgang Chine and Compton Bay.

This part of the island is perfect for beach days, coastal walking, cycling and relaxed seaside breaks.

Ventnor Beach

Ventnor Beach is one of the Isle of Wight’s best known south coast beaches. The sheltered bay enjoys a sunny microclimate and is lined with cafés, restaurants and coastal walks. Ventnor’s seafront offers a relaxed atmosphere and is a favourite for swimming, paddleboarding and enjoying long summer evenings by the sea. Ventnor is just a short drive from our Wroxall holiday cottages.

Steephill Cove

Steephill Cove is one of the island’s most charming hidden beaches. This small cove can only be reached on foot, giving it a peaceful and secluded feel. Visitors come for the fresh seafood cafés, quiet beach setting and beautiful coastal views. The cove is located just beyond Ventnor and is one of the Isle of Wight’s most photographed spots. Don't forget to try the famous crab pasties - delicious!

Shanklin Beach & Shanklin Chine

Shanklin is one of the Isle of Wight’s most popular seaside towns. Its long sandy beach, traditional promenade and family attractions make it a favourite for classic seaside days out. Nearby Shanklin Chine is one of the island’s most famous natural attractions, with woodland paths and waterfalls leading down to the sea. Shanklin is just a short drive from our Wroxall accommodation.

Ventnor Downs & Coastal Walking

The countryside around Wroxall sits beneath Ventnor Downs, part of the Isle of Wight National Landscape. From here you can access some of the island’s most scenic walking and cycling routes, including the Isle of Wight Coastal Path and panoramic viewpoints across the south coast. The area is ideal for guests looking to combine countryside stays with coastal exploration.

Blackgang Chine & the Southern Cliffs

Located on the dramatic cliffs at the island’s southern tip, Blackgang Chine is one of the Isle of Wight’s most famous attractions and the oldest amusement park in the UK. The surrounding coastline offers spectacular sea views, rugged cliffs and some of the most dramatic scenery on the island. It is an easy drive from Wroxall and makes a great day out for families. Afterwards pop into the Wight Mouse pub, nearby Chale. A perfect place for dinner or drinks with fabulous sunsets - don't forget to book!

Compton Bay & Dinosaur Coast

Compton Bay is one of the Isle of Wight’s most spectacular beaches. The wide sandy shoreline and dramatic cliffs are famous for surfing, sunsets and fossil hunting. The beach forms part of the island’s famous Dinosaur Coast, where visitors sometimes spot dinosaur footprints in the rock formations. Compton Bay is one of the island’s most memorable coastal landscapes.

Dog Friendly South Coast Walks

Many of the Isle of Wight’s coastal paths and countryside trails are ideal for exploring with dogs. The downs above Ventnor and the surrounding walking routes offer open landscapes and beautiful sea views. Our Wroxall countryside cottages welcome dogs when booked directly, making them a great base for dog friendly holidays on the Isle of Wight.
